Carpool - HOV Lanes

HOV Lanes

Carpool lanes, aka high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes/diamond lanes, can be a helpful tool during commute hours - breeze by slow traffic and cut your commute time to/from work.

To drive in carpool lanes, you must be in a carpool, vanpool, public transit vehicle, or riding a motorcycle during specific commuting hours. Single-occupant hybrid vehicles are permitted in carpool lanes during designated commute hours. During non-commute hours, carpool lanes revert to general traffic use.

Hours of operation and the required number of people-per-car vary by HOV lane. Click the links below for locations, occupancy requirements and hours of operation. And to help you plan your commute using HOV lanes, see our interactive map of HOV lane locations and Park & Ride Lots.
