Vanpool - Start a Vanpool
Starting a vanpool is easy. When you start or register your vanpool with 511, our vanpool consultants will help you:
- Determine feasibility and coordinate formation meetings
- Lease a van with a preferred vendor
- Recruit back-up drivers and passengers
- Acquire discounted parking permits for Oakland and San Francisco
- Access free bridge tolls (11 - 15-seat vanpools)
511 also provides:
- Free DMV record-check for full-size vans
- Partial medical exam reimbursements ($75 each/up to two drivers per van) for full-size (11-15 passenger) vans
A few things you’ll need:
- Seven passengers (including the driver)
- Register with the 511 RideMatch Service and select the "yes" options under
"Do you drive a vanpool?" - Completed vanpool forms (see right)
